Basic info for the day
- In the morning, experience the wide Engadine valley, known as the “Ballroom of the Alps” with a scenic mountaintop excursion for amazing views over glaciers, mountains, Alpine terrain and lakes; the choice of excursion depends on what is open at the time of your tour.
- Return to St Moritz in the late morning; you are now at leisure to explore on your own.
- Those who want “more mountains” - ask your guides to advise on other easy excursions you can do on your own.
Our Suggestions for an afternoon in St Moritz
- Walk around the lake (approx 1 hour) or hire a bike (at the lakeside) and ride around the lake.
- Walk around the town : it is split between St Moritz Dorf (above the train station) and St Moritz Bad (next to the lake); a frequent bus service connects the 2 parts (free with your Engadine card).
- Take yourself on an excursion up the Piz Nair - St Moritz's home mountain (free with your Engadine card) - ask your guides for easy directions.

- See the palatial hotels that recall the Golden Age of the pre-war years:
- Kulm Hotel (open mid-June - mid-Sept)
- Badrutts Palace Hotel (open end June - mid-Sept)
- Kempinski Grand Hotel in St Moritz Bad (open early June - mid Sept).
- Take Afternoon Tea at the Badrutt Palace Hotel and experience what it was like to live in grand Belle Epoque luxury (July-mid-Sept only).
- Enjoy cake and coffee at Audrey Hepburn's favorite Confiserie Hanselmann, just up the walking street from the hotel.

- See the Leaning Tower (Schiefer Turm) - a 12th century landmark and part of old St. Mauritius Church (demolished in 1890). The tower is situated opposite the Kulm Hotel.

- Visit the new Cresta & Bob Museum (Via Maistra 29 - near the Leaning Tower, opposite the Kulm Hotel) - learn more about the history and development of the winter sport of tobogganing. Open Wed to Sunday 2-6 pm. Website: "https://cresta-bob-museum-stmoritz.ch/en/"
